When we found KID-FIT, my sister-in-law and I were both working full time. We each have our graduate degrees and were working in the fields of Marketing and Social Work. However, we were not feeling completely fulfilled in our careers and were continuously thinking of other potential opportunities that could be out there. Being mothers, we have always tried to set good examples for our children, some of those being healthy food choices and exercising regularly. That is when it hit us….maybe we should incorporate these things into our professional lives as well! This is a part of who we are and we wanted to share this with others, especially children. We started researching 
different avenues and that is when we came across KID-FIT. We chose the KID-FIT program for several reasons. We loved how involved Michele is with her licensees. Starting a business in Kentucky, hundreds of miles from California, we were impressed with how great the communication lines are. We also liked that this program is for preschool children, right at the age of our own, and how it teaches not only exercises, but an educational based curriculum as well. This is very different from the other programs that we had discovered. KID-FIT is exactly what we were looking for!
We decided to take the plunge and invest. We started calling childcare centers and preschools in our area, scheduling appointments and presenting the KID-FIT program. Thankfully we were able to find schools that were willing to give KID-FIT a chance. With faith and excitement we quit our jobs to become full time KID-FIT instructors. Since the start we have been able to add schools through word of mouth, more phone calls with appointments, direct mail and the expansion of our already established childcare centers. We have found that once we establish a relationship with a school, we are given opportunities to provide KID-FIT when they move or add new centers. Directors and teachers have proven to be a great resource for us, as they have often provided additional leads. We also believe that community involvement is of great importance. We have located great advocates through contacting our Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement, YMCA, Parks and Recreation offices and the public school system. We have found that in all of these meetings, if we do not get a contract, we do get another great lead and/or meet some highly influential people!
This business has really changed our lives. IT'S REWARDING!!! We love the feedback we get from teachers about how much fun the children have, while learning so much about their bodies. Parents give us great examples about their children asking if something is 'junk' food or showing them an exercise they have learned in class. We cherish the thank you notes that are written to us by parents and the drawings we receive from the children. We are truly loved by the children we teach and often hear "Yeah, KID-FIT is here!" Personally we have been able to have a more flexible schedule with our own families while earning a good income. We are thrilled that we found KID-FIT in May of 2006 and can only imagine what the upcoming years will bring!
